The Client's Challenge

Harder Bros operates from an industrial premises in Morley that has undergone various modifications and upgrades over several decades. As with many older engineering and manufacturing buildings, there was uncertainty surrounding the presence of asbestos-containing materials within historic building elements and service areas.

The client required a professional asbestos survey to help fulfil their legal duty to manage asbestos, protect staff and contractors, and ensure future maintenance works could be carried out safely. Due to the nature of the business, the survey also needed to be completed around active working areas without affecting productivity or disrupting operations.

Our Approach

We carried out a comprehensive asbestos management survey across all accessible areas of the premises, including workshop spaces, storage areas, offices, welfare facilities and external building elements.

During the inspection, suspect materials commonly associated with industrial buildings of a similar age were identified and sampled for laboratory analysis. Particular attention was given to service areas, plant locations and historic construction materials where asbestos-containing products are frequently encountered.

Samples were submitted for laboratory testing and all findings were recorded within a detailed asbestos register. Each identified material was risk assessed, photographed and included within the final survey report together with practical management recommendations tailored to the client's operational requirements.

The survey was completed safely and efficiently while allowing the engineering facility to remain fully operational throughout the inspection process.
