2. What Are Cookies

Live Chat

Our website offers a live chat window, provided by Leadzilla, the customer relationship platform we use to manage enquiries. The chat window keeps your conversation open as you move between pages, and passes anything you send us into that platform so we can reply.

The chat window only loads once you have accepted analytics or advertising cookies. If you reject all non-essential cookies it does not load at all, and no chat cookies are set. You can still reach us by phone, by email, or through the enquiry forms on this website.

When the chat window loads, Cloudflare, which protects the Leadzilla service, sets a short-lived cookie on each of the Leadzilla domains involved. It tells human visitors apart from automated traffic, lasts 30 minutes, and holds no information that identifies you.

The chat window also uses your browser's local storage to keep your conversation open as you move between pages, and to remember whether the window is open or minimised. Local storage is not a cookie, but it works in a similar way, and you can clear it through your browser settings.

YouTube Video Embeds

Some pages on our website, including FAQ answers and customer testimonials, include an embedded YouTube video. When a page like this loads, YouTube sets cookies on your device immediately, in the same way it would if you visited youtube.com directly. This happens as soon as the page loads, not when you press play, and it happens regardless of your cookie choice, including if you have rejected all non-essential cookies.

These cookies operate the embedded video player, remember playback preferences, and measure how the video is viewed. Google may also use some of them for its own advertising purposes. They last anywhere from the end of your browsing session to several years.

Google Maps Embeds

The pages for the areas we cover include an embedded Google map showing that area. Some cookies on our website are set by third-party services:

Google Analytics and the Leadzilla chat window only set cookies once you have given the matching consent. Google Maps and YouTube are different: they set cookies as soon as a page containing an embedded map or video loads, without waiting for your consent. Section 4 explains this in full.
